A cold, crisp morning in Merseyside and the collection plan, organised by Nick Philpott began, Nick, accompanied by Bob Theckston headed to Farnborough Rd School to collect 200 boxes, while the van, supplied by Barrie Rive's Daughter from
www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk, and driven by Barrie with Drivers Mate Dave Landy riding shotgun, arrived at Our Lady of Lourdes. Barrie and Dave were soon joined by Johns, Neale and Heddon, Robins, Carter and Speakman.
Half an hour later with a van half full, the team set off to Churchtown Primary to collect another 200+ boxes. As the boxes worked their way down the human chain the van team were getting concerned "How many more?" "I think we need a bigger van!" "Just 30 left" came the reply from inside the school and the boxes kept coming - two minutes later, and with another 30 boxes on the van - there are still about 30 left!
Eventually all the boxes were safely store don the van, a few photos with the excited children - Christmas is less than two weeks away after all, and we set off to Much Hoole.
This was our most successful year yet, and we delivered a total of 634 field boxes to International Aid Trust which will soon be winging their way across Europe to children who can only dream of a Christmas such as we experience in the UK.
Our heartfelt thanks to the pupils, parents and teachers of Farnborough Rd School, Our Lady of Lourdes and Churchtown School for being so generous in supporting this very worthwhile cause
