Living Hope - 2014

Living Hope is a project which aims to provide good quality education for disadvantaged children in Baddomalhi Pakistan

With our help and the help of others, the School in Baddomalhi has been officially opened. Pupils are being enroled and lessons should start early next month.

We still have a little way to go to match the District Foundation Grant, but I am sure we will get there, as the school has done! Once again Rotary Beckenham is "changing lives" and making a real difference to the education and welfare of the needy.

On 10th July 2014 the Club handed over a cheque for over £1,240 to Rev. Imran Malik for the Living Hope School Project that aims to provide good quality education for underprivileged children in Baddomalhi, Pakistan. Without this project and the education it will provide, their opportunities and quality of life are severely limited. The most they can hope for is to secure work in the local brick factory for minimal payment in harsh conditions. Education gives them hope of a brighter and more fulfilling future.

The Club had a (not very) frugal lunch on January 29th 2015, to raise money for the charity Living Hope Project which is building a free school in Pakistan to provide good quality education for disadvantaged children.

Rev. Imran Malik leads the project and gave a talk to us about his own experiences growing up in a small village in Pakistan and on the progress establishing the school.

40 students were admitted during 2014 and a further 30 are anticipated for 2015.

Rotary Beckenham was delighted to present Rev. Malik with two cheques for the charity, which together amounted to nearly £2,000.
