John Barber talked to us about the situation in the Ukraine.

The Membership Committee met at 5pm.
We start our meeting today a little earlier than usual - at 5.50pm prompt!
Our St Bedes Team from Youth Speaks - who will represent us at the District Final - came to present to the club and shared our meal, with their memtor David Bailey PHF - Their topic was 'The Perfect Woman'. We were all extremely impressed by their competant delivery and thoughtful arguements about the way the media portray women and the effect that has on young people, male and female.
then our speaker was :
Dr John Barber, a Fellow in Politics at Kings College, Cambridge. He has a particular interest in the Ukraine. He shared his impressions of Lviv, western Ukraine, local attitudes towards Kiev and the crisis in eastern Ukraine. It was very interesting to hear about the history of the current conflict in this fledgeling country and its ambivalent relationship with Russia.
The Awards Committee met after the meal.
