2015 Bus Am Golf Silver Jubilee

Rotary Bus-Am golf day raises £10,000 for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity

The Rotary Club of Southport Link’s 25th Bus-Am  golf tournament, held at The Hesketh Golf Club, raised £10,000 for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.  This staggering figure was achieved through the matched funding arrangement with Barclays Bank who matched £4,000 of the £6,000 raised on the day.  This means that this golf event has now raised over £50,000 during its 25 year history.
Despite the forecast of rain this year’s event was held in mainly dry, cool and cloudy conditions and the majority of golfers returned to the clubhouse in the dry.  A total of 22 teams took part and the winning team was the team from Tarleton Ornamental Plants with a score of 97 points, closely followed by the team from Southport Insurance Brokers with 95 points.  ‘Nearest to the pin’ was won by Keith Hick a guest of the Rotary Club of Southport’s team; and the ‘longest drive’ was won by Mickey Brooks from the Ornamental Plants team. Keith Hick also won the putting competition with Ken Kneale winning the iPad resulting from his entry at the 16th tee.

The day was sponsored by Premier Wealth Management and was celebrated with a dinner in the club house at which the Captain of the club, Peter Killick, took part

Arrangements are now being made for next year’s event. For details, please contact John Bambery email:  bus-am@rcsl.org.uk.

Fund Raising

back Our Fund Raising committee is probably the most important committee in the club - if we don't raise the money we can't help any good causes out when they need it.
