May 2014 Homeless Football Outing to Wembley

A coach trip outing to Wembley to see Cambridge United play - for the Homeless community - sponsored by the Cambridge South Rotary Club. The annual football competition - the Tommy McLafferty Cup - now on the 29th Jun 2014.
A very successful sponsored coach trip for 48 supporters was organised to take the Homeless Teams to see the Wembley match !! - as Cambridge United (a major sponsor) were playing at Wembley on 18th May 2014. It was a very exciting day for everyone involved and best of all - The U's Won the Conference League !!

The fifth annual Tommy McLafferty Cup competition will now be held on Sunday 29th June 2014 from 11am on the all weather courts behind the Abbey swimming pool - sponsored and organised by the Cambridge South Rotary Club, in partnership with Cambridge Link-Up and Wintercomfort for the Homeless, the Police and Cambridge United. Teams are now registering to compete for the cups.
This tournament is named after Tommy McLafferty, who was an accomplished footballer - he spent time as a coach with the Scottish giants Celtic - and was a member of the homeless community, but who died in 2009 - the tournament is staged to help the homeless in Cambridge and bring them together to take part in this fun event.
