This evening our speaker was Rtn Amber Slamaite who gave a fascinating talk to us about her challenging job as an interpreter and translator, often involved in high profile legal cases. It was very interesting to get a behind the scenes insight into the problems and emotional impact of working with frontline police, witnesses and perpetrators. She is much in demand because her legal training and wide cultural experiences.
