On Saturday 13 members and partners of Seagate Rotary, and two dogs, had a gentle winter walk from Irvine to Kilwinning. This was made more interesting by a major diversion to take in the industrial and military archaeology of the Bogside flats, a seemingly remote area of open country stretching from the harbour to the Kilwinning Bypass, including the old racecourse, seldom visited but right on our doorstep. The walk was organised by Donald Menzies who had researched barrage balloons, bunkers, gun emplacements, coal mines and abandoned villages which were not apparent to the casual observer.
Monday was club business night at Seagate. A cheque was presented to the Chernobyl Children
