Kevin is passionately interested in sustainability issues, especially around buildings and transport and works across a wide variety of countries..
He is Commercial Director at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) where he has worked for the last 7 years.
BRE operates world-wide through a not-for-profit charitable trust. It has offices in China, India, Brazil, Canada and the United States as well as England Scotland and Wales. It is the world's largest independent (non-government) research body for the built environment and provides unrivalled research, consultancy, training and environmental accreditation. BREEAM is a recognised world standard measure of sustainability and many of the staff at BRE are world class experts in their field.
In 26 years prior to this, Kevin has worked in 4 of the England's 9 regions and in planning, transport and major infrastructure delivery across 6 UK local authorities. He has also advised the European Union on sustainable transport, housing and flood plain development.
Prior to BRE in his role as Chief Executive of SmartLIFE, Kevin developed business training centres in Cambridge, Hamburg and Malmo. These delivered business support, innovative housing and sustainable construction skills training. He was also an advisor to Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) across the 75 designated UK Growth Areas and Growth Points.
Kevin has also been an advisor to the Department for Transport (DfT) on sustainable Transport and was Vice Chair of the National Travelwise Association. He led the UK's input to a multi-country EPOMM platform with the same focus. He has also had a key role in developing innovative new transport systems across the UK including people mover, light rail, guided bus and trolley bus systems.
