The DG outlined his committee's strategy and priorities for his year in office 2012 - 2013 and introduced his team of District Lead Officers from across the area :

Marketing and PR - Martin Brocklebank.

Membership - Roger Green

Community and Vocational Projects - Keith Tovey

New Generation / Youth projects - Sharon Ridgeon

International projects - Brian Davies

Foundation / Funding for Clubs and Ambassadorial Scholars - Steve Munns

He emphasised the key role that the District 1080 News plays in co-ordinating club activity and was very pleased to announce that it had recently won the Rotary GB&I Award. He reminded clubs to send in articles regularly and in good time.

The event was in a delightful setting and was run very efficiently. It was well attended by 82% of the clubs in 1080. We all went away very enthusiastic to continue the good work and support the Rotary priorities.

The morning ended with an inspiring talk given by a british polio sufferer who contracted polio at the age of only 6 months and who has lived through years of ongoing hospitalisation, operations, treatment and physical disability. It was a salient reminder of how important the End Polio Now Campaign is and how every new case is one too many.

The District Conference will be on 20th October 2012 Trinity Centre, Ipswich - with a main focus on Youth projects.
