What is Save5 all about? Would you donate or take an organ if you needed one? More than 10,000 people in the UK current need a transplant,of these, 1,000 die each year that is 3 a day.
Speaker host A Shipp,

This talk given by T. Sandeman-Charles, Saffron Walden,  was a celebration of determination conquering adversity. It related the journey through life of a psychologically strong personality having  impressive success in her various careers until in 2010 she was diagnosed with 2 terminal lung conditions, only a lung transplant will save her life!   In keeping with the strength of character that had typified her life up to that point  began a campaign to get 10,000 people to sign up to donate their organs in the event of their death in an accident.  The club members were told that only 0.02% of organs get used for transplants and 3 people die every day whilst waiting for one.  Needless to say many of those Rotarians present signed up at once to the Donor Scheme as a result of our dynamic speaker.
