The Rotary Club of Abergavenny recently held their mock
interviews at King Henry VIII School for the students of year 13 who will be
attending interviews at their chosen university or job next year.
The purpose of the event was to provide experience to those
who will be facing an interview panel for universities or a possible employer.
Thirty students, including applicants for Oxbridge, were
interviewed by a panel of three Rotarians who carried out their interviews with
a variety of questions based on guidance from the admissions board and relating
to the subject the interviewee was hoping to follow. Students also provided
their personal statements.
The panels provided constructive feedback on areas such as
first impression, presentation, communication skills and finally giving their
opinion as to whether they would have offered the interviewee a place.
The students also provided feedback commenting on how they
felt the experience had assisted them.
Anthony Davies, Chairman of Abergavenny Rotary Club young
generations Committee said that he would
like to thank all who had assisted with the event, in particular Mrs Lynne
Morgan , Head of upper school and her assistant, Kim Rowland.
