Young Enterprise

Young Enterprise is a UK wide, even European wide scheme, whereby young people get together to form a company within the school environment for a year.

They issue shares to raise capital, have board meetings, design products to sell, create and market them, produce reports and give a presentation (hence the competition) before winding up the company. Each company is facilitated by a teacher and advised by an outside 'business person'.

Rotary provides some of these business advisors who admit to finding it very rewarding. Young Enterprise locally is promoted and run by Young Enterprise North West, and there is a Development Manager, Jackie Armstrong who, I am sure, would love to hear from any interested potential advisors. Either contact Jackie and mention Rotary, or call the District Youth Activities Chairman for a more informative chat.

Some Rotary Clubs provide Young Enterprise Boad members and Judges.

Contact details for Jackie can be found on the above link.
