Our speaker for the Memory Cafe was Maureen Ryan who gave us a talk on her time with the Red Cross. She was involved in the exchange of prisoners in the Middle East which seemed to be quite a daunting task, and also in helping to give holidays to underprivileged children. Maureen quoted an occasion when, as she was doing a night tour of a dormitory, one little boy was still awake. She said goodnight to him and gave him a kiss, and he said to her "we get a holiday and love as well".
Her talk was much appreciated by everybody and we look forward to seeing Maureen again at our Cafe.
This month was the busiest we have had over the last seven months. Somebody who was visiting said they could hear the laughter outside the hall and commented on what a wonderful atmosphere we had created. This month we had help from local Rotarians, our Girton friends, and also from three members of the local Inner Wheel which was much appreciated.
