South Cambridge Rotary Club is pleased to be associated with and assisting at the South Cambs Schools Sports Mini Olympics for year 4 children with 1300 children from 43 primary schools taking part.
On Tuesday 21st June the Sports Partnership held its annual Mini Olympics which involved all of the primary school in the catchment areas of the 8 Village Colleges in South Cambridgeshire. Approximately 1300 pupils descended on the University Athletics Centre in Wilberforce Road Cambridge. The small organising committee approached the Rotary Club of South Cambridge with an appeal for help to which the club was eager to respond and 3 members attended, the task assigned being to supervise the setting down of the children and oversee the parking of approx. 30 large coaches and despite numerous problems arising this was satisfactorily achieved. During the day each child rotated through 12 different activities, so that they all encountered various challenges throughout, a wonderful experience for them all.
