Well Done Sixth Formers
Congratulations go to some Sixth Formers at Princes Risborough School who have joined the World Wide family of Rotary. On Monday 13th December President David Troup of Princes Risborough Rotary Club proudly presented 16 students with a special Certificate of Membership from Rotary International HQ. So now these students have formed their own school based Interact Club. Similar to the aims of Rotary, Interact as a junior version is designed to serve, help and support local and international communities. It provides youngsters with opportunities to develop leadership skills, connect with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures and countries, and give service to others in the community. It is also sociable and fun. According to senior teachers at the school the whole idea of Interact fits in well with the teaching of citizenship and students' independent learning of life skills, personal effectiveness and responsibility. The Interact meetings take place in school every Wednesday lunch time.
The Interactors thoroughly enjoyed their evening as honoured guests of the Rotarians at Princes Risborough Golf Club. Their President Jordan Taylor explained to Rotarians that leading up to Christmas the Interactors had raised over a hundred pounds for the charity "Help the Heroes". Other distinguished guests at the event included the two Headteachers of Princes Risborough School, the Assistant District Governor of Rotary and the after dinner speaker who gave a very interesting talk on 'Catching Drug Smugglers'.
On Saturday afternoon 18th December you will see Interactors helping Rotarians with the Christmas Collection in the Market Place. As the sponsor of the Interact Club the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough greatly values this new partnership with young people.
