Yet again we are in the midst of one of the biggest disasters the world has ever seen. The flooding in Pakistan has been described as having the scale of the Indian Ocean Tsunami coupled with the devastation of the Haiti earthquake. Rotary Clubs across the country are sending aid to Pakistan and a collection was held on Saturday at Tesco, Galashiels. Club President Peter Croan said 'We are delighted with the response of shoppers in the town to our appeal to help families and children who are suffering as a result of the Pakistan flooding'. At this time, the greatest need is for clean water which will cut down the spread of disease.
