Report 13 April 2010

(a)       Norman reported that the District Water Project in the Sudan has been put on hold due current the situation in that country.   Further funding is being sought and Roger Thom hopes to renew a Rotary Contact in Sudan and that new Foundation funding will be available.

(b)       The Rotary relief efforts in Haiti are now in preparation for the next phase, which will be sustainable restoration projects to enable the long term rehabilitation to begin, schools to reopen and adequate housing provided for the future.   To date, Rotary has delivered more than 100 planeloads of aid and containers of medical supplies, food, water, toys, clothes, bedding and tents.   Many volunteer doctors, surgeons and nurses have also been transported to Haiti by Rotary.   $50.000.00 has also been provided to co-incide with the planting season in Haiti.

(c)       More than 13,000 Shelter Boxes have been sent to Haiti and there is a commitment to send in another 10,000. Chile have been sent 1000 boxes, which are either on the ground or on route.

 

Report 9 March 2010

(a)       Norman reported that the Tesco Collection dates for this year have been confirmed as Saturday/Sunday, 27th/28th November, 2010.   This will be for an International Charity, as yet to be decided.   He is also looking to get a date at ASDA for early 2011 for a UK based or local charity.

(b)       The contribution to the Sudan Water Project, through the Rotary Club of Dalbeattie, was
