Lauren Hayes gave a super talk about her background and aims. She explained that she comes from 3 generations of farmers (cotton, peanuts, soya beans, cattle etc). She attended Auburn University from 2005-2009 studying Public Administration and German. She served as President of the Student Government Association there. She visited Salzburg for 2 months and Nicaragua fro 2 weeks. She interned for Richard Shelby and Elizabeth Dole (wife of Bob) and spent last year in Washington DC working for a lobbyist as a research assistant. She supports the Auburn American football team, staying up much of the night to watch games! She is now studying, until August 2011, in Cambridge for an MPhil at Queens College in Education Policy. She lives with 17 other post grads in a house in Maids Causeway. She would like to do some teaching or a PhD and sees her future in Educational Policy or Administration.
