An Atlantic Rowing Challenge
On Monday 25th October the club was entertained by two excellent speakers. Christian Howard and Tom Dignum two Anglia Ruskin University Graduates who really wanted to do something big for charity.
They explained how they are attempting to gain more publicity and secure sponsorship for an amazing Atlantic Rowing Challenge, which they are doing to raise money for the charity Parkinson's UK.
Chris said 'We are doing this for Parkinson's UK because my grand father suffered from the disease and I grew up watching it get worse, I don't think many people really understand the condition and we thought this event might also raise more awareness'.
Tom works for Studio Language School in Cambridge and Chris works for Cambridgeshire County Council. They have to train for the rowing challenge whilst holding down full-time jobs. No mean feat.
The challenge is to row 3000 miles from the Canaries to Antigua and they explained how their preparations were progressing and in particular their attempts to raise sponsorship.
