President Ian MacDonnell and Vice President Peter Croan visited St Peter's School in Galashiels on Monday morning the 22 March to give a talk to Primary 6 and 7 pupils on the work of ShelterBox and Disaster Relief. Following the presentation the Teachers asked if they could both stay for the afternoon to allow the children to put the tent up, and learn more about the work of ShelterBox. Ian and Peter were only too happy to oblige and with the help of some pupils from Primary 6 managed to pitch the tent in the centre of the classroom, not the easiest of tasks but with the help of all the children it was soon a job well done.
The children were fascinated with the story of the ShelterBox charity and the work that is undertaken by the Relief Teams all over the world in responding to Disasters. Many of the children had seen the tents on the News Bulletins in response to the Haiti appeal and asked an impressive array of questions that kept Ian and Peter on their toes. President Ian thanked the children and Teachers for allowing them to give the talk and gave the School a Shelterbox T-shirt to raffle off to a lucky pupil.
We are very grateful to the people who have added to our Haiti appeal, allowing another 2 boxes to be bought.
