A beautiful fine Sunday saw a record number of nearly 350 competitors, including many from Oswestry, arrive at the Bank of America "Field of Dreams", Chester to enjoy the 9th Rotary District 1180 Disabled Games.  The partnership with Bank of America has seen the number of participants increase every year from the original 45 in 2001.

"We were delighted to, yet again, achieve record numbers as the reputation of the Games spreads amongst the disabled community", said Games Organiser David Towers of the Oswestry Rotary Club. "Thanks to over two hundred volunteers from Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs in North Wales and the North West, we are able to offer the chance to try a very wide range of sports from darts to archery, from cycling to cricket, from tennis to volley ball and even an inflatable assault course."

"The objective of the Games is to give people a great fun day out," concluded David, "and judging from the way competitors clapped and cheered at the closing ceremony, when every one was presented with a special medal, we succeeded!"
