Fri, Aug 28th 2026 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Offering free sessions on how to perform CPR and how to use a defibrillator

Today, our Rotary North East 'One Life Initiative' team were joined by members of the North East Ambulance Service to offer free hands-on CPR and defibrillator familiarisation at the Summer Market in Durham Market Place. The event attracted a good deal of attention resulting in a number of people of all ages keen to learn more about how to perform CPR and how to use defibrillators. City of Durham MP Mary Kelly Foy was amongst those who stopped by to see us.

Thank you to Durham Markets and Rebecca at WEL Medical Ltd for their support and a huge thanks to Olivia Ashburn, a Community Resuscitation Training Officer for the North East Ambulance Service, and Community First Responders Sue, Gloria and Alan. Thank you sharing your time, knowledge and expertise with the community. Your support will have helped people learn valuable lifesaving skills and give everyone greater confidence to respond in an emergency.
