Stocking Up

President Stephen and Youth Officer Peter had met with Gareth Roberts, the Head of Stock Primary School, at the end of March and it was agreed that Stock Primary School would form a new RotaKids club.  However, in an innovation suggested by the Head, it was agreed that elections for membership of the club would be held this school year so that he school could get off to a “flying start” in the next school year in September..
Now - Yes - it has happened.

On Friday July 3, new President Nick Street, and Youth Officers Peter Greene and Keith Wood, went along to morning assembly at Stock Primary School for the formation of the new club.

Elections

The school had already organized hustings and elections amongst the children for who would be members of the new RotaKids club, but the results had remained secret.  

On the day of the visit, Head Teacher Gareth introduced the Rotary visitors and spoke a little about the aims of the club before handing it over to President Nick to explain in a little more details what Rotary is, and what the RotaKids club should aspire to achieve.

It was then Gareth’s turn to announce the results of the elections and call up the new RotaKids to receive their badges.  First of all the officers of the club to receive their individual badges of Office:
Edith Murray - President
Dylan Clark - Vice President
Edward Robertson - Secretary
Pixie Reeves-Howard - Treasurer
and then the individual RotaKids in turn, to receive their lapel”button” badges:  Leo Holroyd, Harriet Barber, Jessica Thomas, Verity Banks, Grace Ayres, Belle Barrack, Leo R-G, Cora Bullen, Charles Goater.

President Nick then led them all in reciting the RotaKids pledge:

As a RotaKid I endeavour to be fair to all, to serve my community, and to show respect to others.
Charter

Then the final act of the day, time to present the new club with its official Rotary Charter, and then time for some photos of the officers and the whole team, and then time to go.
What a successful and moving day!
