 First Prize

Club member Keith Wood’s Creatures Great and Small, is managed by his daughter Kimberley.  They are incredibly proud and honoured that they won first place in 2026’s Billericay Dementia Action Week display competition.

This popular High Street shop was recognised for its blue-themed display created to raise awareness and encourage conversations around dementia.  The award from the Town Council is for £50.

Especially Proud

Kimberley, who now runs Creatures Great and Small, said “I am especially proud of the effort the whole team put into making sure the display looked amazing, particularly Helena and Kerry, who worked so hard to help bring everything together.  It was really important to us that the display not only stood out but also helped to start conversations and show support for those affected by dementia. The recognition means a great deal because the cause is deeply personal to her.

“We are so proud to have won, but more importantly, proud to have played a part in supporting such an important week for the community,” she said. “It was amazing to see so many businesses and organisations across the High Street getting involved and showing support. Dementia awareness is something especially close to my heart, as my mum, Wendy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s with dementia just over 10 years ago.  As a family, we understand how difficult the journey can be for those living with dementia and for the people around them. That’s why supporting Dementia Action Week was something I really wanted to do, anything that helps raise awareness, understanding and compassion in the community is worthwhile. The standard was incredible and every display deserved recognition. It really showed what a caring and supportive community we are lucky to be part of.”

“Thank you to the organisers especially Maureen Lee, the Your Billericay bid team, local businesses, volunteers and the Town Council for helping make Dementia Action Week such a success. We  look forward to continuing to support community initiatives in the future. Our prize will be donated to ‘Dementia Action.”
