Bexhill Rotary Takes Spectators’ Favourite Award at Bexhill Carnival 2026
Bexhill Rotary Club celebrated a memorable success at this year’s Bexhill Carnival after its imaginative Peter Pan-themed float won the Spectators’ Favourite award.
The club’s entry brought Neverland to the streets of Bexhill as members and supporters transformed their float into a colourful scene featuring a hand-built and painted replica rowing boat. The striking centrepiece was joined by a lively cast of characters including Mr Smee, Captain Hook, the crocodile, Peter Pan and other familiar faces, delighting families and spectators along the carnival route.
Weeks of planning, building and painting went into the float, with Rotary volunteers working together to create an eye-catching entry that captured the spirit of the carnival’s movie theme. From the detail on the replica boat to the costumes and character performances, the display reflected the club’s teamwork, creativity and commitment to supporting community events.
Special thanks were given to John Cooper, who led the project from concept through to completion and helped coordinate the team’s efforts. John received the Spectators’ Favourite award alongside Bexhill Rotary President Sue Day, marking a proud moment for everyone involved.
President Sue Day said the award was a wonderful recognition of the time, energy and enthusiasm contributed by members and friends of the club. She also thanked the Bexhill Carnival organisers, volunteers and spectators for making the day such a success.
Bexhill Carnival remains one of the town’s best-loved community events, bringing people together for a week of free activities and fundraising for local charities and community groups. Bexhill Rotary was delighted to play its part in the 2026 celebrations and looks forward to continuing its support for the local community.
