Welwyn Garden City Rotary Club Attends Annual District 1260 Handover

Welwyn Garden City Rotary Club leaders attended the annual District 1260 handover on 1 July. Read about the new leadership team, incoming District Governor Kendal Pitt, and our club's plans for community service in the year ahead.


Welwyn Garden City Rotary Club Marks the Start of the New Rotary Year

The new Rotary year officially commenced on 1 July, with District 1260 marking the occasion at its annual handover event.

The Rotary Club of Welwyn Garden City was proudly represented by President Andrew Forrow and President-Elect Amanda Joseph, who travelled early to join fellow Rotarians from across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hertfordshire for the 7:00 am meeting.

The morning opened with a warm welcome from Jenny Salmon, President-Elect of Hertford Shires, before members reflected on the achievements and service initiatives completed across the district over the past twelve months.

Gratitude to Outgoing District Governor Jeremy Wyman

Sincere thanks were extended to Jeremy Wyman as he completed his two-year term as District Governor. Mr Wyman shared key highlights from his tenure, reflecting on the collective impact made possible by the dedicated efforts of clubs throughout District 1260.

Welcoming District Governor Kendal Pitt

The formal handover ceremony concluded with Kendal Pitt receiving the District Governor’s chain of office. District Governor Pitt outlined his core vision, strategy, and priorities for the year ahead, whilst introducing his newly appointed leadership team:

  • District Treasurer: C Ellis

  • District Secretary: Vernon Benjafield

  • Membership Lead: Amanda Joseph

Future Succession Plan Established

The long-term continuity of the district remains secure, with the formal succession plan confirmed as follows:

  • District Governor Elect: Claudio Durran

  • District Governor Nominee: David Footit

The event provided an excellent forum for fellowship, professional networking, and strategic planning. Following the meeting, President Andrew Forrow and President-Elect Amanda Joseph returned with renewed inspiration to lead the Welwyn Garden City club into another successful year of community service and international fellowship.
