As the Rotary Club of Welwyn Garden City marches proudly through our landmark Centenary Year, our mission to foster fellowship and connect with the wider Rotary family is stronger than ever. Yesterday, WGC Rotary went "on tour" as a lone ambassador from our club traveled across the district to attend the Rotary Club of Luton’s annual Club Assembly Day at the Chiltern Hotel.
It turned out to be a fantastic afternoon of warm hospitality, delicious food, and a wonderful celebration of shared history.
There is a brilliant historic connection between our two clubs. While WGC is currently celebrating 100 years of service, the Rotary Club of Luton is hot on our heels, marking its own 98th year of dedication to the community.
To mark the occasion, a traditional exchange of club pennants took place. The Luton team kindly presented us with their club pennant, and in return, our WGC representative gifted them a WGC pennant alongside our official leaflets and a copy of our specially produced Centenary History Booklet.
Luton is only two years away from their own centenary milestone, and we certainly hope we can return the favour and be there in numbers to celebrate with them when they hit the big 100!
