Over a thousand more people now do thanks to testing carried out in our communities by the Llanelli, Carmarthen, Porthcawl, Henllys, Carmarthen Tywi, Cardiff Bay, Cowbridge and Llandeilo Rotary clubs and the City of Cardiff Rotaract club; as reported on ITV Wales News.
Approximately a third of those tested were referred to their GP’s, some urgently. Similar events are being planned with the Barry and Morriston Rotary clubs later in the year.
Rotary and the Stroke Association have been holding ‘Know Your Blood Pressure’ days for many years and this has helped to significantly reduce the incidence of strokes. Indeed during the last 20 years the number of people dying of stroke has halved while the number of major strokes has decreased by 40 per cent.
