In 2018 the former District 1020 responded to then RI President Ian Riseley’s challenge to plant a tree for every Rotarian across the world. Clubs responded by planting their own or contributing to almost 900 trees which were planted in Talla Linfoots, near Talla reservoir, managed by Borders Forest Trust (BFT), with a Rotary volunteer planting day arranged with BFT on 21st April 2018
As District Environment officer that year, John Wilson has made an annual visit to Talla Linfoots site to see how the whips (wee tree seedlings) planted by our District 5 years ago are faring.
The two photos show the site along the Games Hope Burn, near the entrance, looking towards Talla Reservoir in March that year, and in September this year. The tree mix includes birch, hazel, and oak, which are now well established.
Colin also has drone footage of the area which can be seen below with his permission.
