How Safe Is Our Island? Let’s Talk About Armed Policing in the Isle of Man - March 2026

On 18th March 2026 over 50 people attended a talk on Armed Policing on the Isle of Man given by Superintendent Danny Rotchell and Inspector Elliot Butler from the Isle of Man Constabulary.
This public event was hosted by the Club.


In an interactive evening the audience learnt about

- How safe is the Island

- Why we need armed police and what has changed

- what do our firearms officers actually do

- the command structure and deployment criteria

The talk was illustrated with real life examples , along with a demonstration on use and limitations of using a taser.

Afterwards there was a chance to chat with armed response officers and look at the equipment weapons and first aid equipment they carry in the armed response vehicles.
