Billy Thompson won the Barrow Rotary Club crown green bowls competition, defeating reigning champion Barry Lowden in the final.
Thompson got off to a great start in the final at the Coop Bowling Club, building up an 8-0 lead. Lowden got it back to 11-9 but there were still two points in it at 16-14 before Thompson pulled away to win 21-16.
In the semi-finals Thompson had a 21-7 win over Billy Harding while Lowden beat John Reilly 21-8.
The second round was littered with tight games with Harding beating Chris Whitehouse 21-20, Thompson having a 21-20 win over Roy Moxham and Dave Monk beating Kyle Brown 21-20.
In the quarter-finals Thompson beat Rob Keegan 21-16, Lowden defeated Danny Edmonds 21-7, Reilly beat Adam Miller 21-19 and Harding had a similar margin over Paul McHugh.
The trophy was presented by Barrow Rotary Club president Alf Hadley who commented on the high quality of the play.
He thanked the Co-op club for allowing use of their facilities, Dave Pedley for organising the event and sponsors Edmundson Electrical and Johnston Recruitment.
