The summer months are a time for Rotarians to be involved in local galas and fayres, either by supporting other organisations or arranging their own.
One annual event is Cockermouths Touch a Truck which this year included a new event CockerPaws. The well attended event included trucks, classic cars, a fairground ride, music, dancing displays, food outlets and various other stalls. The new dog show, CockerPaws saw plenty of wagging tails and happy exhibitors! A variety of classes resulted in many winners including 'The Waggiest Tail' going to Lily and Bruce being the 'Dog most like their owner'.
Friends of Lumb Millennium Green, supported by Rossendale Rotary, put on an event that was thoroughly enjoyed by many members of the local community with musical entertainment including the Ukes of Hazzy, Water Band, and the Rossendale Drum Majorettes. The stalls were from Lumb Baptist Church, Incredible Edible Rossendale, Whitewell Bottom Community Centre, Rossendale Ramblers, Go Velo cycling, Abbie’s Health and Fitness, and Energy Bodi, plus Rossendale Rotary's Human Fruit Machine. Additional children’s activities included penalty competitions, a ball game provided by the Sea Cadets, a wildlife hunt, and a fun assault course.
Another Club running a Human Fruit Machine was Ulverston Rotary who supported a fundraiser at St John Barrow school.
Members of Blackpool Palatine Rotary attended Claremont Gala, braving the adverse wind conditions, holding a Teddy Tombola and Splat the Rat. The club raised over £300.
