Rob Hopkins, bestselling author of ‘From What Is to What If’, is coming to Epsom to lead a dynamic and hands-on workshop

There’s a lot of upheaval going on at the moment, much of which we have little or no control over.  When it comes to being part of our community, however, it’s a different story…

Rob Hopkins, bestselling author of ‘From What Is to What If’, is coming to Epsom to lead a dynamic and hands-on workshop, which will guide us in how to ‘fall in love with the future’. In a day of inspiring, playful and imaginative activities Rob will steer us towards imagining and discovering the thriving town of the future – Epsom, Ewell and further afield - we’d all love to live in.

If you are feeling slightly jaded, or struggling to keep up momentum in these challenging times, join us for a day and come away re-invigorated, with new perspectives and with enthusiasm for our next collective steps.  As a local councillor, we hope this event will be of interest and use to you.

“We are not mindless cogs in a machine churning out the inevitable code of our own demise. We can snap out of it. We can turn on parts of our brain that we haven’t used for a while and think of better outcomes. We can imagine a bright future and set sail for it. In these very challenging times when doom and gloom are omnipresent; Rob’s approach is the antidote we need. Let’s not surrender to the bad vibes. Let’s gather ourselves together, get organised and co create the thriving and abundant future that are hearts our crying out for. Now is the time!”

Matt Mellen, Frome Town Council

During the day you will learn to:

  • Build your collective imagination muscle through a series of engaging activities
  • Envisage the future that turned out OK and experience it with all your senses
  • Become adept in the difference between ‘Yes, but’ and ‘Yes, and’
  • Take a ‘Walk of What If’ to expand the ambition of your organisation’s next steps and move beyond short term thinking
  • Bring energy, humour and playfulness to the big challenges of our time
  • Generate hundreds of inspired ideas and then turn some of them into immediately workable proposals

This isn’t your standard workshop – it will take you out of the ‘daily grind’ and beyond familiar workday discussions. The event is open to anyone: members of local sustainability groups, teachers/lecturers, town councils, local businesses, in fact, anyone with an interest in looking in a new way at future possibilities in building networks and connections with residents and community groups… It’s a day for people from all parts of the local community – the more ‘cross-pollination’ the better, so we do hope that you will come along and be part of it.

More details, and how to book, can be found at https://www.stmartinsepsom.org/imagine/

We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you at the event!

Best wishes,
