Woolsack Charity Golf Day - May 2024

Thank you to all those who supported our 19th annual charity golf day and raised almost £4,250 in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care and our ‘Cut Out Cancer’ campaign.
The coveted Rose Bowl was won by Colin Stokes team from Milford Golf Club.

If you cast your mind back about five hours before our first tee-off, you will remember a very violent storm with spectacular lightening and tremendous crashing of thunder… however, the course at West Surrey soaked it all up and, apart from the odd puddle in some of the rough areas, you would not be aware of what went before…

Eighteen teams joined our day with team CS leading the way with 92 points – CS being Colin Stokes who had drop-outs and managed to re-jig a team from Milford GC.   Last year’s winners – the Hurtmore Dream Team led the way for much of the day but eventually fell one point short with the Oxygenarians a further point behind.

Our own ‘dream team’ of Lin and Barbara conducted a very successful raffle – local companies ‘sponsored’ some tee-boxes; we were given complimentary 4-ball vouchers to auction and a donation.  In all we realised just shy of £4,250 for our two main charities – Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care and our club's ‘Cut Out Cancer’ campaign for the Royal Surrey County Hospital.  Further details on the Cut Out Cancer campaign can be found here.

This day is the result of a lot of hard work and commitment from our Rotary club – from our members and friends who donated to the raffle and of course their time – to our supporters who generously gave us the means to achieve the financial success and to our hosts at West Surrey Golf Club, who were there for us every step of the way.

Thanks to everyone concerned and we go again on Thursday 1st May 2025.

Fundraising

back We like to provide some financial support to charities and other good causes in their work, so we have a programme of fundraising each year for this purpose.
