Table Tennis Final 2019 - 2022

The longest Tournament in history - possibly anywhere!

The 2019 - 22 Finalists
The 2019 - 22 Finalists

From Mike Turner of Chichester Rotary Club

I promised to let you have the results of the above final which was played Thursday  afternoon 17th November 2022 at Petersfield Leisure Centre

In what was probably the longest duration of a competition involving a delay of two years caused by the lockdown Farnborough RC were finally able to take on the combined Chichester/ Chichester Priory duo.

In the first game of the best of three match, Farnborough went into an early lead and although the Chichester team narrowed the difference towards the end, they held on to take the first game by a margin of 3 points.

The second game was a different story and Chichester took command early on and held on take it with a little to spare.

In the deciding game Farnborough took an early lead, but Chichester fought back strongly and were ahead by some 6 points when they changed ends at 10 points. They appeared to be heading for a comfortable victory …..  Farnborough fought back strongly …. but in the end Chichester ran out winners.

It was a hard fought game played in true Rotary spirit.

I have included a photo of the Finalists:

Left to Right: Tim Dunkley (Farnborough) Mike Harvey ( Chichester Priory) Mike Smailes (Farnborough) and Mike Turner (Chichester)

Thank you Mike for your match analysis and story and the great photo! Congratulations on your victory!

We are looking forward to arranging the presentation of the trophy at the District Conference in January. Hope you will all be there! - SO
