AQUABOX AND AQUAFILTER
Aquabox Is a robust plastic tank with water purification tablets and packed with essential welfare items for a disaster situation. Once the welfare contents have been removed, each AQUABOX can be used to purify up to 1100 litres of polluted water, making it safe and pleasant to drink.
1100 litres is equal to 5,000 cups - that is enough for a family of four people (drinking 10 cups per day) for about four months.
AQUABOX is an official project of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland
There are 4 types of Aquabox priced from £50 to £250. For more information go to www.aquabox.org or www.aquabox.org/project.php
Aquafilter is an exciting development which can produce potable water for the medium term in disaster areas and can be used in conjunction with Aquabox.

WATER SURVIVAL BOX
The Water Survival Box is a Rotary humanitarian aid project. The most urgent single problem facing the relief agencies is the provision of a supply of safe drinking-water. During and in the aftermath of many natural disasters, water-borne diseases from contaminated sources threaten to kill even more victims than the initial disaster. As well as having a bad odour and taste, contaminated water can contain micro organisms that cause diseases such as cholera, dysentery, typhoid and hepatitis.
The Water Survival Box contains a water-purification kit and essential items for survivors of disaster who have lost home and household belongings. Chlorine tablets (with gauze and carbon filters) provide potable water for a family of 4 for up to four months - based on 2 litres per person per day. To be effective, Water Survival Boxess are sent by air so as to arrive within days of the request for aid. Standardised content of new durable items ensures speedy transit through customs.
Worldwaterworks Limited works in partnership with Rotary Clubs, Red Cross, and other key aid agencies in countries worldwide.
The cost of a box is £150. Further information at www.worldwaterworks.org
