Youth Speaks: The District Final 2026

Held at the Oakwood Centre, Woodley on 12th March 2026

The Oakwood Centre, Woodley Reading was packed with excited pupils, teachers, parents for the 2026 Rotary District 1090 (Thames Valley) Youth Speaks competition.

Huge thanks go to the members of Reading Abbey Rotary Club for organising this fantastic district heat. Your time, energy, and dedication made the event a fantastic success!

Teams of three from schools across the district competed at either an intermediary or senior level in a fiercely contested debate.

We were truly inspired by the confidence, creativity, and passion shown by all the young participants. It’s incredible to see the next generation sharing their ideas and speaking up about the issues that matter to them.

Congratulations to our winning teams:

Senior Category:  The Cooper School
proudly sponsored by the
Rotary Club of Banbury Cherwell.

Intermediate Category:  St Joseph’s College
proudly sponsored by the
Rotary Club of Reading Matins.

Events like Youth Speaks highlight the power of communication and leadership in young people, and we are proud to support these talented students as they develop their skills and confidence.

Thank you again to everyone who helped organise, judge, volunteer, and participate. Together we continue to encourage young voices to be heard!
