We were delighted to welcome Sister Paula Bradshaw from the Sisters of the Charity of St Vincent de Paul who joined us for lunch today. Afterwards, Sister Paula talked about her work in Sierra Leone before the recent war which saw her evacuated with only two hours prior notice at the insistence of the, then, British High Commissioner.
Sister Paula talked about her work in and around Freetown in the struggle against poverty and of some of the projects she had been involved in. She told us some harrowing tales of atrocities committed during the war but talked of the tremendous efforts being made at reconciliation.
Sister Paula spoke briefly of her work with Father Peter Konteh at the St Mary's Childrens' Home in Bo and we presented her with a donation to help further the excellent work done there.
