The Rotary Club of Guernsey Tree of Joy (big) elves were busy on Saturday morning 16 November putting up the iconic light tree on the roundabout in town today.
The roundabout was down to
one lane for a few hours to allow the Rotary elves, along with the
professionals Marine and General Engineers, Charles Vaudin Tree
Surgery and Bob Froome Crane Hire, to put up the 32 x 32m light strings
which make up the tree.
A huge thanks is due to Dame Mary Perkins for her assistance in placing the star at the top of the tree. To coin a phrase "There is nothing like a Dame"!
The official switch on is
scheduled for Thursday 28 November at around 6.00 p.m.
The light Tree is the focal point of the Tree of Joy tag appeal by the Rotary Club of Guernsey which provides Christmas presents to Guernsey children who would otherwise either not receive a present or receive very little.
A big thanks goes
out to the general public of Guernsey for their continued generosity in supporting the Tree of Joy gift tags and buying the presents.
Finally, a big thank you to our sponsors Bank of Butterfield, Guernsey Gas & PwC and supporters Charles Vaudin Tree
Surgery, Island Electrics, Marine and General Engineers & Stan Brouard.
