The work of the Committee organising the Saffery Rotary Walk was publicly
recognised with a special award for the second time in just two
months.
As part of the ‘Make a Change Campaign’, the Guernsey Disability
Alliance has sought to honour organisations in Guernsey who “Think Differently
about Disability”.
The Walk was complemented for its endeavours to
welcome and accommodate disabled walkers within this landmark annual event in
the Island calendar.
Karen Blanchford, representing the GDA, said, “A
huge amount of work goes into making this community event truly inclusive. The
award citation lists flexible routing, a bespoke booking system, special
marshalling and our own more accessible race pack as facets that show that the
Saffery Walk Committee really are 'thinking differently about disability!’
“
Rotary is looking forward to welcoming walkers from associates of the
GDA again in next year’s walk which will be held on Saturday 9 June 2018.
