Aireborough Rotary have been working with Guiseley Community Foundation, part of the football Club, every main school holiday for the past 8 years to provide a healthy hot lunch for the vulnerable children in our area.

This year we provided 18 daily lunches over a 4 week period for up to thirty 7 to 11 year olds. Whilst the children were playing sports and games or doing art activities three different Rotarians with help from their partners and friends took over the kitchen at Guiseley Methodist Church to cook child friendly meals.

Favourite foods were pitta pizza, sausages and mash, spaghetti bolognese and homemade chicken nuggets. We even persuaded the children to eat fruit, vegetables and salad. We also collected food from Fairshare so the children were able to take home additional food packs.

Because we were helping the Foundation in this way, they were saving money by not employing a catering team. This allowed them to take the children out to Rodley Nature Reserve (as seen in picture), on canal boat trips and to Hesketh Farm. All these, unexpectedly for the children.enriched their summer holiday experiences as well as ours.
