Thirsk Local girl Jasmine Harrison successfully completed the 3,000 mile trans-Atlantic Talisker Whisky Challenge in March from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua, and after spending just over 70 days solo at sea! She not only has completed this epic challenge but also became the youngest solo female trans-Atlantic rower, in doing so. She has raised a large sum of money which she has divided between her two charities, one of which is our own ShelterBox.
In recognition of her amazing achievement, she was presented with the ‘Freedom of Thirsk & Sowerby’ by the Council within COVID-19 restrictions
Jasimine’s boat ‘ARGO’ was centre stage after returning from the Caribbean and supported by all the local businesses that sponsored her row.
We were extremely grateful for the assistance and attendance of Rtn Stephen Oakwell from Normanton, who is our District 1040 ShelterBox co-ordinator and who came along with the ShelterBox display.
