Spelling and vocabulary should be vastly superior thoughout Wensleydale thanks to individual gifts from the Rotary Club.
Pupils leaving the six Wensleydale Primary schools, plus those from Reeth, will have a distinct advantage at their new schools in September. On one of the final days of term, members of Wensleydale Rotary Club, George Chadwick, David Milner, Phil Oliver and Howard Binks, attended seven assemblies. They gave 74 young people, who are moving on to various upper schools, the gift of an illustrated dictionary to develop both their vocabulary and understanding of language.
Mr David Milner encouraged leavers to record their friends names in the book. He said: "Life is a journey: leaving junior school is an exciting timein your lives. These dictionaries will hopefully meet your needs for many years to come."
Speaking on behalf of all the schools, Spennithorne head teacher, Lindsay Evand, thanked the Wensleydale Rotary Club for their generous gifs.
