Throughout the District 82 Teams consisting of 4 students (328 pupils) pitted their wits in Basic, Intermediate and Advanced level Technology tasks. This involves teamwork, problem solving and ingenuity.
Teachers described the task as a development within the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) Curriculum stimulating students at all levels.
As always the teams responded extremely well to the challenge and came up with a variety of ingenious solutions, which met the laid down criteria.
Independent Judges appointed by The Institution of Structural Engineers, who sponsor the event, working in conjunction with Rotarian Judges awarded marks for the task and had the unenviable task of deciding who the winners would be.
This year’s Young Technology Tournament entry was down slightly due mainly to staff shortages within schools. We also had a couple of last minute call offs. Although numbers were down the event is still very popular within the District and highly regarded by Technical Teachers, Head Teachers and Students who were asking when the next competition was happening.
The Competition was hosted by 4 High Schools, one in each of the following Areas throughout District 1020.

A big vote of thanks to all the Judges, Area Organisers and Rotarians without whose organisational and logistic skills this competition could not be run. Thanks must also go to The Institution of Structural Engineers who have supported this competition over many years.
