The Rotary GB&I Young Musician competition provides a stage for musical talent to shine in regional competitions before the grand final itself. Starting with club level competitions, winners progress to district events followed by regional contests with the hope of appearing at the national final.
This competition is open to young people who are aged under 18 are run by local Rotary clubs, who will host regional competitions before winners advance to the district and then national events.
This year there were 6,500 entries from across Britain and Ireland, and sixteen qualified for the National final. The final held in Kent was won by seventeen year old Connor Smith a local student from Broxburn Academy, accompanied by teacher Lorna Lattimore, and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Currie Balerno.
