ShelterBox Update

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

I trust that the new year has started well for you all and that the very wet weather of recent weeks has not presented too many challenges.

As a District we certainly have something to celebrate in terms of the commitment by our clubs to ShelterBox. The final totals for donations from Rotary Clubs in RGBI in 2024 have been published, and D1010 raised £40,270 in 2025, which represents a significant increase from 2024 (£23,352). Of the 24 Rotary districts in RGBI the donations from clubs in D1010 placed us in seventh position, and more clubs in the District donated to ShelterBox: over 51% of clubs compared to 22% in 2024. This is a remarkable commitment which will have made a difference to so many families made homeless by disaster. 

Such giving forms a significant part of the funding ShelterBox requires to fulfil its mission, but another opportunity for support which many may not be aware of is the ShelterBox Book Club. In the past year this raised some £150,000 and played a big part in spreading the word about our work. Some of your members may be interested in this novel approach to fundraising: perhaps you could pass on the link  information about this to those readers in your clubs who might wish to add variety to their reading.
