Martyn's Law

There is a 2-year period to become familiar with what's needed and put in place

The Rotary GB&I Compliance session in November 2025 spotlighted Martyn's Law which came into law earlier this year. Also known as The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025) and the initial message is please don't panic about it, but start to think about your events as there is a 2-year period to become familiar with what's needed and put in place.

It is likely that we will find that all local Councils may interpret differently and at this stage may still be formulating their own plans (As an example on one Scottish Council website and there's nothing up to date on what is required). So check out the basics on this page Martyn's Law - TheTerrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 - Rotary GB&I Members Area and start to speak to your local authority and other partners as you start to think about Risk assessments for events which will be impacted - could be anything from a concert to a bonfire & fireworks night…. As always, let's be on the front foot and proactive so there's no surprises down the line!
