To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Charter of Forfar Inner Wheel, a joint meeting was held in The Royal Hotel on Wednesday 15th January.
After welcoming all present, President Susan opened the meeting with a brief history of the formation of the club and the founder members involved.
President Susan was joined by Rotary President Scott to cut the birthday cake. This was followed by President Scott presenting Forfar Inner Wheel with a new Gavel made from oak off cuts from the Rotary Skiff project. The oak originally came from the Lowson Church during alterations many years ago. A new Friendship Candle mounted on an inscribed pewter and teak base was also presented for use at meetings. The teak coming from an old building that was demolished a number of years ago in Forfar.
Inner Wheel's District 1 Chairman Jean brought greeting and congratulations from all the District 1 clubs, the District Executive and Association President Heather Sheerin. She then presented the club with its 75th Charter Certificate from Association. President Susan read out a message from HRH Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh & Countess of Forfar - congratulating the Inner Wheel on its birthday and remembering the contribution the club has made to the local community over the years.
All those present enjoyed good food and friendship followed by a nice slice of locally made birthday cake. The evening's entertainment was supplied by Joe Wishart a well known local raconture and performer, which was well recieved by all those present.
