Environment matters
The environment remains one of Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus, and we are committed to working with our communities to protect the areas we call home. Many Rotary clubs and groups are already having an impact through projects and activities, including with young people.

The theme for our Young Environmentalist 2024-25 competition is ‘Our Tomorrow’.

The competition aims to encourage young people to:

• interact with the environment

• address serious environmental issues

• develop and explore solutions to the issues 

• explore, investigate, research and undertake an environmental sustainability project

There are three age groups:

Junior:            Up to and including 10 years old

Intermediate:   11 to 13 years old

Senior:            14 to 17 years old

Entrants must not be over the upper age parameter for each group on 31st August 2024.

There are two categories in the competition in each age group

• An individual entry 

• Group entries (maximum of four participants)

The task is to select a topic within the theme of Our Tomorrow and undertake some research and exploration into the current magnitude of the issues associated with the environment. Participants may work on projects on their own or as part of a group of not more than four people. All entrants will receive a certificate.

The deadline for clubs to submit their entries to District is 31st January 2025.

This competition is being run in District 1010 only – no national competition - but is being run on a similar basis as previously, with updates.  Details in the previous year's Information Pack apply (theme excluded) and can be viewed HERE
