Kintore Public Hall was the location for the RYLA Alumni get together on 17th November. Former RYLA candidates travelled for as far away as Orkney and Dundee to share memories of their RYLA week.
Wendy Maltman, a RYLA participant in 1990, shared her photographic memories as did Alan Millar who attended the boys’ camp in 1991.
Current and former mentors were joined by the present and the previous coordinators and both groups enjoyed reminiscing over a delicious afternoon tea prepared by the Kintore and Kemnay club with thanks to President George Ross of the Inverurie Club for his baking! The display of previous handbooks illustrated how the RYLA camp activities had developed over the years.
District Governor, Ian Dow, expended the groups thanks to Ray Walker, President of Kintore and Kemnay Rotary for her inspiration and organisation of this memorable event.
A great afternoon with RYLA alumni, RYLA mentor and RYLA Convenor Alumni and Rotarians from Ellon, Inverurie, Kintore Kemnay & District, Oldmeldrum and Turriff. and Interactors from Kemnay Academy and our youngest attendee Rachel 5 months whose Dad was a RYLA candidate in 1991 and who is now PT ASN at Kemnay Academy and runs the Interact Club with Kintore Kemnay and District Rotarians. DG Ian welcomed everybody suggesting we mange to talk to everyone - I think we managed that!
